Yasaka Shrine, also known as Gion Shrine, is one of Kyoto's most famous Shinto shrines, located at the eastern end of Shijō-dōri in the Gion District. The shrine is renowned for its Gion Matsuri, one of Japan's largest festivals. In the evening, the hundreds of lanterns in the main hall are lit, creating a magical atmosphere for visitors.
